Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – Power at the Campsite

1. Can the Telair 6000 operate on a campsite connection of 6A or 10A?

10A: In most cases, the Telair 6000 runs without issues on a 10A supply.
6A: It can work, but it is not guaranteed. It strongly depends on the breaker type (slow/fast) and the total load in your motorhome.

2. The Telair 6000 has a start-up peak of ±15A. Does this mean the campsite must provide 15A?

No. The peak is very short and lasts only a moment.
Whether it works depends on:

• the breaker characteristics (fast or slow),
• the quality of the campsite’s electrical installation,
• how many other appliances are running.

In practice, 10A is usually sufficient.

3. Why is 6A sometimes problematic?

At 6A you are close to the limit.
If the breaker trips quickly, the compressor’s start-up current may be too high.
This doesn’t mean it never works, but occasional interruptions are possible.

4. Is there a solution to use the airco reliably on 6A?

Yes. With a Victron MultiPlus, the system can be configured so that the MultiPlus absorbs the short start-up peaks.
The campsite then delivers a steady 6A, and the MultiPlus provides extra power only when needed.

5. Which battery is recommended?

A lithium battery of at least 150 Ah is recommended.
Not for long-term running, but to absorb short power peaks without voltage drop.
Lead-acid batteries are less suitable because of their limited discharge capacity.

6. Does the MultiPlus deliver continuous power while the air conditioner is running?

Usually not.

• During normal operation, the air conditioner runs on the campsite supply.
• The MultiPlus only delivers power during peaks or when the campsite connection is restricted.

This keeps the system efficient and prevents overload of the campsite power post.
